In Greek mythology, Eros and Thanatos were cosmic personifications of the 2 absolute laws of the universe:
Desire (the Life drive), the force that creates life.
Death (the Death drive), the force that ends it.
INTEGRATION OF EROS AND THANATOS:
- Channel Energy positively- Redirect destructive / aggressive impulses (Thanatos) into high-intensity physical exercise, sports or creative work.
- Mindfulness – Pause when feeling a sudden urge toward self-sabotage, isolation or conflict; Identify it as an unhelpful discharge of the death drive before acting.
- Cultivate Connection – Actively feed the life instinct by building deep personal relationships, engaging in community building and pursuing curiosity or learning.
